General Description:

Strength and Conditioning Coach (SCC) shall enhance Airmen and Guardian Physical Fitness and Academic Performance by developing and executing strategies that mitigate adverse risks impacting mission effectiveness. Provide knowledge and demonstrate physical fitness techniques to new Military Training Leaders (MTLs) that can be utilized during squadron physical fitness sessions.

 

 

Specific Tasks:

  • Develop and implement work out plans that boost physical performance. These plans will mitigate physical and ergonomic stressors and optimize Airman/Guardian performance. Utilizes information gathered through direct observations.Information will be used to select or develop initiatives that increase optimal health and performance and enhance resiliency.Collaborates with the Military Training Office (MTO) in creating a tracking program to document physical fitness test scores, skeletal muscle mass, and body fat percentage upon arrival and graduation of the program. Uses expert knowledge to apply original ideas ensuring the program is meeting the mission goal of increasing the physical capacity of Airmen and decreasing the rate of injuries.
  • Serve as a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. Develops and establishes a culture of discipline, character, and mental resiliency within the individual Airmen/Guardians and each group, combined with a SCC created, scientific training program that maximizes power, speed, agility, mobility, and strength, in Airmen/Guardians. Conducts strength and conditioning assessments, tracks individual and program outcomes, and makes modifies the program as necessary. Coordinates and instructs the organization’s strength conditioning program course in accordance with set guidelines and curriculum as well as developing innovative approaches for members/operators exercise programs to ensure safety and effectiveness. Collaborates with MTO to evaluate policies and directive from higher headquarters and advises on impact and actions necessary to implement and sustain program objectives and requirements. Demonstrates appropriate exercise skills, body mechanics and techniques, as well as modifications for targeted populations. Administers innovative and effective strength and conditioning protocols and exercise prescriptions to elicit maximum physical performance. Performs the initial analysis of the collected data and provides direct feedback regarding strength and conditioning testing, physical performance trends and improvement, injury avoidance and recover. Refers all personnel with an apparent new or undiagnosed medical condition to the primary care physician for evaluation and treatment. Prescribes individual and group exercise prescription for Airmen/Guardians with diagnoses to include but not limited to obesity, hypertension, diabetes, arthritis orthopedic injury, tendonitis, facilities, stress fracture, shoulder, and low back pain.
  • After the end of each program, you will meet with the MTO team to finalize data and provide input on the way forward. You will analyze all metrics with MTO team after each assessment to discuss future training requirements or amendments.
  • Fitness Equipment. You will use available equipment located at the Human Performance Training Center or other designated locations (Triangle track, Levitow Training Support Complex). You may make recommendations to MTO for additional equipment based on the assessment of the audience needs.
  • At the end of each course, you will deliver a report detailing Airmen/Guardian starting PT test scores vice ending PT scores, skeletal muscle mass, and body fat percentage.

 

Experience:

  • Must have a minimum of one year work experience in the Fitness and Sports industry standards.

 

License/Certification:

  • Strength & Conditioning Coach Certificate from NSCA (CSCS), NCSF (CSC), NASM (PES), ISSA (SCC), or ACSM (EP).
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • First Aid
  • Blood Borne Pathogen
  • Should successfully complete an advanced fitness workshop and pass the certification test and maintain CEU as required by the certification.Certified Fitness Specialists must have at least 100 hours of documented group and/or individual fitness/exercise program design.
