Medical Records Clerk
Place of Performance: Fort Bliss, TX

 

Specific Tasks:

  • Maintain files in accordance with AR 40-66. File medical documentation and ensure data filed are properly identified. Return loose medical documents to various medical clinics as necessary. Sort and file laboratory slips, consultation reports, physical exams, forms and other materials. Review records for proper sequences of documents, file loose documents, correct misfiles, ensure all documents are together by name and social security number when records are pulled for treatment or administrative
  • Cross-reference indices and compile statistics on requested information pertaining to medical care provided for use in various reports. Assist with record dispositions by copying medical records and forwarding original to various organizations after final approval. Ensure a copy of records is maintained at the
  • Prior to disposition of the record, review entire record for proper sequence of documents and check for duplication of records to ensure the same information has not been sent
  • Apply the appropriate guidelines concerning the release of patient medical information. Prepare charge-out record on all files removed showing appropriate office, physician, or clinic to which the file is being
  • Shall comply with all MTF productivity standards and maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.
  • Shall comply with all health requirements, immunizations, and vaccinations.
  • Shall complete all DoD, DHA, and MTF-specified training requirements.
  • Shall personally record hours worked in the Defense Medical Human Resources System – internet (DMHRSi) system, or other system, as required by the MTF.

 

 

Education:

  • High school equivalent.

 

Experience:

  • Possess a minimum of one year of experience within the last three years working as a full-time medical records clerk in a hospital, clinic, or doctor’s office.

 

Additional Certification:

  • Possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. The American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted. BLS recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times.
