Medical Laboratory Technician
Place of Performance: Fort Bliss, TX

 

Specific Tasks:

  • Follow MTF laboratory procedures and guidelines for specimen handling and processing, test analysis, reporting and maintaining records of service member test
  • Adhere to laboratory quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance
  • Follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within laboratory’s established acceptable levels of
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and shall either correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or medical director.
  • Perform laboratory procedures and tests as required/directed.
  • Document laboratory procedures and tests conducted. Maintain documentation of all tests/actions provided in accordance with applicable directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the
  • Ensure all documentation and reports are legible and complete. The CP shall prepare all documentation to meet or exceed established standards to include but not limited to timeliness, legibility, accuracy, content, and
  • Shall comply with all MTF productivity standards and maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.
  • Shall comply with all health requirements, immunizations, and vaccinations.
  • Shall complete all DoD, DHA, and MTF-specified training requirements.
  • Shall personally record hours worked in the Defense Medical Human Resources System – internet (DMHRSi) system, or other system, as required by the MTF.

 

 

Education:

  • Certificate or Associate Degree.
  • Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).

 

Certification:

  • Certification/registration as determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT.

 

 

Experience:

  • Possess a minimum of one year of experience within the last three years working as a full-time laboratory technician in a clinic, hospital, blood bank, or stand-alone laboratory.

 

 

Additional Certification:

  • Possess a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. The American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers is the only program accepted. BLS recertification shall be maintained in a current status at all times.
