General Description:

Optimizing Human Weapon System Services is designed to meet the unique physical needs of the rated fighter aircrew. Conditioning is accomplished through a comprehensive, coordinated, multidisciplinary “pre-habilitative” physical training program with focused strength and conditioning, physical therapy, massage therapy, and athletic training.

Work schedule and hours – Services shall be provided based on a 30 hours per week schedule. Operation hours Tuesday – Friday during the periods of 0800 – 1200 hrs and 1300 – 1630 hrs. During night-flying weeks, hours of operation shall be 1200 – 1600 hrs and 1700 – 2030 hrs. Flex hours may be requested up to one weekend per month during drill weekends. Weekend hours will be 0800 – 1200 hrs, or 1200 – 1600 hrs on Saturday and Sunday.

 

Specific Tasks:

  • Evaluate and provide services to all pilots who request the services each month.
  • Each patient shall receive an initial assessment within one week after services are requested.
  • Provide a monthly status report which shall include: Patient progress IAW Individual Training Plan (ITP), Modifications or suspensions and Get Well Date identified.
  • Provide all forms of primary injury (acute and/or duty- limiting) prevention services; to include: physical capacity as well as new member assessments.
  • Provide each patient with a feedback form prior to end of appointment for completion for each appointment for first 3 months of the period of performance.
  • Provide overall program progress report, in addition to the ITP reporting.

 

 

Qualifications:

Athletic Trainer

  • Must be a current Licensed Athletic Trainer by the OATA.
  • Current Athletic Trainer (AT) Certification from the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA).
  • Hold a degree from an NATA accredited institution specifically for “Athletic Trainer.”
  • Must have experience working with professional and/or collegiate athletes. A minimum of four (4) years of experience working with professional and/or collegiate athletes is desired.
  • Current certification in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to include Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training is desired.

 

Strength and Conditioning Specialist

  • Should possess a Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience working as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist is desired.
  • Shall possess and maintain current certification by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or possess a CrossFit Level 2 or greater certification.
  • Current certification in basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to include Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training is desired.
  • Creditable specialized experience includes: developing long and short- range planning and coordination of sport/mission specific performance programs resulting in attributable results with elite athletes (e.g., Division I collegiate, Olympic, professional level athletes or SOF- specific tactical professionals.
  • Must be able to lift and manipulate loads and plates up to 55 pounds each.

 

Massage Therapist

  • Current Licensed Massage therapist.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience in deep tissue massage is desired.
