Exercise Physiologist
Place of Performance: Japan
Specific Tasks:
- Assess the fitness level of the population as defined in the TO using sound epidemiological principals. Use evidenced based exercise and behavior change theories to develop, coordinate, implement, conduct, track and evaluate a comprehensive fitness program aimed at fitness improvement and disease intervention and prevention.
- Administer fitness assessments, fitness counseling, fitness prescriptions and medical exercise/post rehabilitation fitness programs, functional screenings, disease management, preventative services and various other health and fitness programs and activities that meet the community needs.
- Design, develop and establish appropriate administrative and management systems, procedures, and policies to ensure the highest professional level of fitness programming within the community.
- Provide health education expertise, consultancy, and advocacy to support a comprehensive fitness program.
- Perform unit fitness quality checks and/or staff assistant visits as needed.
- Use assessment results and evidenced-based exercise and behavior change theories to plan comprehensive, integrated, and effective fitness programs.
- Schedule beneficiaries for appointments and conduct associated administrative functions as required.
- Plan and conduct submaximal assessments of estimated aerobic capacity by means of cycle ergometry/heart rate monitor and computer.
- Accurately retrieve and file beneficiary information IAW local guidance.
Qualifications:
- Degree: Bachelor’s Degree.
- Education: Graduate from a program in exercise physiology, exercise science, kinesiology, sports medicine, or wellness accredited by the American Society of Exercise Physiologists (ASEP).
- Certification: Certified Exercise Physiologist from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM); Automated Eternal Defibrillator (AED) certification.
- Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as an Exercise Physiologist.
