General Description:
Physician Assistant, Post Deployment Health Reassessment (PDHR) shall perform the tasks listed below.
Specific Tasks:
- Maintain knowledge of content and intent of DoD and USAF policy regarding deployment
- Remain knowledgeable in DoD/Veterans Affairs (VA) Post-Deployment Health Clinical Practice Guideline (PDH-CPG).
- Remain updated on deployment health assessment policy and process guidance provided by DoD and USAF.
- Complete all deployment health clinician training required by DoD and
- Conduct deployment health assessments, as appropriate to field of
- Interview and assess patients regarding pre-/post-deployment health concerns, and appropriately document all interviews and assessments.
- Assess and treat patients in accordance with DoD/VA PDH-
- Ensure patients are provided education regarding their individual deployment-health
- Provide patient referrals for specialty care and ensure follow-
- Document clinical encounters in patients’ electronic medical records using appropriate deployment health codes.
- Vital component of the Air Force’s ability to provide effective care and treatment for members with deployment-related health concerns.
Education:
- Advanced degree in accepted field of study from an accredited institution, along with current, valid license and/or certification (as applicable) to practice in field of expertise.
- Physician Assistant (PA) must have a Bachelor of Physician Assistant Studies degree from a PA educational program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission for the Physician Assistant.
- Must hold current certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Experience:
- Shall have a minimum of 12 months of experience working as a Physician Assistant within the last 36 months.
Certification:
- Shall have and maintain a current license to practice Medicine in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands that allows for the independent practice of clinical services.
- Shall possess and maintain current course completion documentation for basic life support (BLS) through an American Heart Association and/or Red Cross approved training
